Crescendo Justice Journey

FEBRUARY 24 - 28, 2025 | CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

The mission of Crescendo Justice Journey is to partner with the 60+ community in their discipleship growth toward racial righteousness. We invite you to take part in this powerful experience of learning, reflection, and community.

In 2023 and 2024, two groups, led by Debbie Blue and Krisann Jarvis Foss, embarked on the inaugural Crescendo “Charleston” Sankofa journeys. These pilot experiences laid the foundation for Crescendo Justice Journey, now an ongoing initiative in collaboration with the Evangelical Covenant Church’s Love Mercy Do Justice ministry priority.

In the future we plan to alternate years: 2025 will welcome 60+ participants, while 2026 will expand to include an intergenerational group. We hope you’ll be part of this impactful journey.

Objectives

• KNOW THE PAST…  Uncover the historical significance of Charleston, SC, and its role in the business of slavery.
• GROW IN THE PRESENT…  Encourage deeper growth in understanding slavery’s impact then and now.
• GO IN THE FUTURE… Embolden participants to return to their Jerusalem (Luke 24) and “act justly” (Micah 6:8).

Trip Details

• The trip will take place Monday, February 24 - Friday, February 28, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina (Monday and Friday are travel days).
• Exploring the history of the business of slavery in this context both then and now.
• Visiting sites, viewing videos, and listening to speakers.
• Debriefing and learning in a small community.
• Living together in community (separate rooms for each single and couple).
• Leaders - Debbie Blue (Chicago, IL) and Krisann Jarvis Foss (Kent, WA).

Cost

• $400 includes lodging, meals, site fees, and ground transportation to/from sites and the airport. 
• Some of the sites visited include the International African American Museum (opened in 2023), McCleod Plantation, Old Slave Mart, City Market, Gullah Geechee Country, Mother Emanuel Church, and other memorials.
